View from the Chair
I joined the board of directors of Women's Health in Women's Hands three years ago. During that time, I witnessed the challenging transformation of the centre from a seedling idea to the holistic multi-purpose health centre that it is today.

Before becoming Chair of the Board earlier this year, I made a commitment to WHIWH to work with the staff and board members to create a place where women's health needs are fully met. Part of that commitment included my work as Chair of the program committee to review all health promotion programs at the centre. We worked to ensure that each program contributed to a cohesive whole that reflected WHIWH's mandate.

I am most proud of WHIWH staff and the work they have accomplished. They are a dedicated group of professionals who go above and beyond the highest expectations to continue to bring innovation and thought to a multidisciplinary women's centre. Their proactive approach to promoting self-advocacy for women is recognized by an international audience.

Our future is bright. We will continue to make strides in securing women's health and equality rights until these two elements become one in the minds of decision-makers everywhere.

Message from the Executive Director
As the Executive Director of WHIWH since 1998, I, together with the staff, am committed to furthering the growth of the Centre. We continue to strengthen our philosophy and promote the mandate recognizing always that women's rights are human rights and that the right to accessible healthcare is a basic human right.

As we participate as a member of the Association of Ontario Health Centres and also within the larger women's movement, we must ensure that the lens through which community health centres deliver services reflects gender. We must also ensure that this lens reflects the inequalities women face because of their race, class, culture, disability and age. This is essential for universal access to healthcare within our communities and across Canada. We strive to ensure and promote the indivisibility of women's rights.

- Eunadie Johnson, Executive Director, WHIWH
